HELPING GIVE HOPE
Ways We Help
Every year Fleury Charitable Organization selects a new cause important to our community and the wellbeing of those less fortunate or suffering. We focus our support and fundraising activities to these causes in order to provide both monetary assistance as well as increase the public's understanding of why we need a cure.
2022 Cause for a Cure
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today.
“Most of my life I can remember my Grandma suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease (PD) occurs when brain cells that make dopamine, a chemical that coordinates movement, stop working or die. It is called a “movement disorder” as PD can cause tremor, slowness, stiffness, walking, and balance problems. PD is a lifelong and progressive disease, which means that symptoms slowly worsen over time. One of the hardest parts of watching someone progress with PD is seeing them no longer enjoy the things they loved to do. My Grandma died in 2010 and in 2020 my Dad was diagnosed with PD as well. There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s disease. Our goal is to help others like my Grandma and Dad with supporting the Michael J. Fox Foundation in order to develop additional treatments and therapies for those dealing with Parkinson's, with the eventual hope that a cure can be found.”
